SO I know I have some of the most creative friends and family out there...so help me. I have been to a fair share of baby showers in my time. I am in charge of GAMES/ENtertainment for a shower on Friday. And I have seen the generic measure the belly, word scrambles, taste the baby food, baby food in the diaper, bottle sucking.....does anyone have anything they've done or seen done that was so ingenius?? I am counting on all y'all for some out of the box ideas.... OR I'll be forced to smear prunes on a diaper for entertainment!!(sounds tasty, eh?!!)

One of my favorites is not very creative or new. I have seen it at a couple of showers and Aunt Alice did at mine was to melt candy bars into diapers, then have people guess what the candy is. It is pretty generic, but it is pretty funny to see people sniffing and examining the diapers.
Well I dislike shower games personally. I like one game super simplistic and be done with it. But you may be different. Anyways at Lori's shower last week Katrina did match celebrity parents with the celebrity baby names. And for mine we did baby bingo. Both were entertaining.
For mine there were ones I'd never seen before. At one the had a list of animals and you had to say what the baby name of the animal was and the mommy name (if applied). Ex: Kangaroo- baby= joey. I have that list. Also there was a list of animals and a list of days. Guessing how long each animals pregnancy is you had to match the number to the animal (did you know elephants are prego for like 2 years!) I have both of these games still for this exact reason:) At my other shower we had paper plates and crayons and you had to put the plate on the top of your head and then draw what baby Trey would look like (some were really entertaining). My cousin had also interviewed Lance about baby questions and then I had to guess what his answers were (ex: what's Kristi going to scream during delivery, how long is pregnancy...). this was really cute. Let me know if you need anything. Good luck:)
They had some onesies that the ladies got to decorate with embroidery floss, trims and other doo-dads - then they gave a prize to the cutest one. The mom got to keep them for the new baby chick/or rooster - whatever gender.
I HATE games. Did that help? I HATE games at showers.

They had the list of questions ready, and they actually video taped him (you could just have the answers written down if you want) while they asked him all the questions. Then at the shower they hooked it up to the tv and played the tape. After they asked Lance the question they paused it, waited for me to guess what he would say, then played it again to find out what his response was. It was very entertaining.
I have had gummy bears frozen in ice cubes and had to guess what time my baby would be born- the closest person got the prize and you could help it along anyway you wanted. I have also had clothes pins strung up and had to take as many off with 1 hand as possible without any help from the other hand so you hold them and remove them with the same hand. those are the only ones that aren't up yet.
You could also make scrap book pages for the mother to fill with pictures of the baby.
Do funny things that babys say and do like America's funniest home videos.
MOM
Oh... whatever you do... don't do any sort of "give the mommy-to-be some advice" game. Those never really work out the way they should and someone usually says something that will rub someone else the wrong way (usually the mom-to-be). Yes... this happened to me. :) Personally I think Aunt Ann's idea is super cute with decorating onesies. You could even get fabric paint and stencils or something for some cute designs. Sorry I don't have any original ideas of my own. Good luck.
few ideas since I live in babyland. 1) freeze those little plastic baby pacifiers in ice cubes and have them in the drink bowl-the first person to have theirs melt and break free in their cup yells My water broke and gets a prize 2) You get magazines and cut out as many babies as you can, then you cut out celebrity faces and paste them on to the baby bodies and people have to guess who is who-it's pretty hard when the celebrity faces are cut close and they don't have their hair or anything. 3) Memory game-you have 2 posterboards, each with index cards marked 1-20 (4 rows of 5 or vice versa). Under the cards, written on the posterboard, are different phrases and people have to pick 2 numbers and try to match the phrases-but the funny part is that each phrase coordinates witha candy bar-if you get the match, you get the coordinating candy bar. If you really want to do this I'll have to email the phrases to you. But it's things like Daddy=Sugar Daddy, Baby Girl=Baby Ruth, 9 Months=Rocky Road, Dirty Diaper=Raisenettes, Umbilical Cord=Licorice Rope, Hospital Bill=100 Grand, etc.
hope that helps!
